What is a discount calculator?

A discount calculator shows how much you save on a product and what you pay after the discount is applied. Enter the original price, the discount percentage and an optional tax rate. The calculator returns total savings, tax amount on the discounted price and the final amount payable. Run it before confirming a purchase or setting a sale price. No data leaves your browser.

How to calculate discount price with tax

Enter your values in the tool above. Results update instantly.
  1. Enter the original price. Add the base price of the product or service before any discount.
  2. Enter the discount percentage. Set the offer percentage such as 10, 25 or 50 to see total savings.
  3. Enter the tax percentage (optional). Add your GST, VAT or sales tax rate to see the tax amount after the discount is applied.
  4. Check the final price and export. The tool shows original price, savings amount and final payable. Click Copy to copy the final price or Download .txt to save a full report.

Discount calculator formulas

The calculator applies standard discount and tax formulas in sequence.
Savings = Original Price × (Discount % ÷ 100)
Discounted Price = Original Price − Savings
Tax Amount = Discounted Price × (Tax % ÷ 100)
Final Payable = Discounted Price + Tax Amount
Example:
Original Price = $100
Discount = 20%
Tax = 10%

Savings = $20.00
Discounted Price = $80.00
Tax Amount = $8.00
Final Payable = $88.00
Tax is calculated on the discounted price, not the original price. This is the standard approach for most GST and VAT calculations.

Where to use a discount calculator

Use the calculator whenever you need a quick answer on savings or payable amount.

Online shopping comparisons

Check the real payable amount across multiple products before deciding. A 30% discount on a higher base price can end up costing more than a 10% discount on a lower one.

Ecommerce campaign checks

Validate sale pricing before launching seasonal offers and promotions. Use the markup calculator to confirm margins first, then set the discount level here.

Retail billing estimates

Calculate the expected final bill before reaching the checkout counter. Useful when GST or VAT is added after the discount and the display price only shows the base discount.

Freelance and service quotes

Apply a promotional discount and tax to a client proposal to show the final payable clearly. Clients rarely do this arithmetic themselves, so a clean final number builds trust.

Marketing offer planning

Test different discount levels to understand what customers actually save and whether the promotion still meets your profit targets.

Discount calculator vs manual math

Calculating a straight discount is simple. The calculation becomes error-prone when tax is applied after the reduction, because most people instinctively apply tax to the original price rather than the discounted price. The calculator follows the correct sequence automatically. Enter the three values and read the result. The report is copyable and downloadable so you do not need to retype numbers elsewhere.

Use discount results with Spexo Addons for Elementor

Once you have confirmed the final discounted price, use it directly in your Elementor built offer pages on WordPress. Browse the Spexo promotional landing page Elementor templates to find ready-made sale and campaign page layouts.

Pricing and offer blocks

Display the original price, savings amount and final payable in pricing cards and announcement banners. Showing the saving amount alongside the final price increases perceived value for visitors.

WooCommerce sale pricing

Enter the confirmed discounted price directly into WooCommerce product fields. The calculator gives you the exact number so there is no rounding or estimation when setting the sale price.

Landing pages and countdown offers

Build flash sale and time-limited offer pages with accurate pricing verified before the campaign goes live. Incorrect pricing on a published landing page is hard to recover from once traffic arrives.
