PX to CM Converter

Unit Tool

What is a PX to CM Converter?

A PX to CM Converter changes a digital size in pixels into a physical size in centimeters. The result depends on DPI because the same pixel value represents different physical sizes at different screen or print densities.

The Spexo PX to CM Converter uses your pixel value and DPI to calculate centimeters instantly. Copy the result or download a text report. No data is sent to any server.

How to convert px to cm

Enter the pixel value and DPI. The centimeter result appears automatically.

  1. Set the DPI value.
The default is 96 DPI, the standard for web and screen calculations. Adjust it based on your screen, design export or print requirement.
  2. Enter the pixel value.
Type the value in the Pixels (px) field. For example enter 800 if your image or layout width is 800 pixels.
  3. View the centimeter result.
The converter returns the centimeter value with 4 decimal places for precise measurements.
  4. Copy or download the result.
Click Copy Result to copy the centimeter value to your clipboard. Click Download .txt to save the pixel input, centimeter result and DPI value as a text file.

PX to CM formula

The formula to convert pixels to centimeters requires a DPI value.

cm = (px ÷ DPI) × 2.54

At 96 DPI, 800 pixels equals 21.1667 cm. At 300 DPI, the same 800 pixels equals only 6.7733 cm because the pixels are packed more tightly into each inch.

Why DPI matters

DPI stands for dots per inch. The value describes how many pixels fit inside one physical inch of a screen or printed output.

Common DPI values and their contexts:

DPICommon use
72 DPILegacy screen and older web standard
96 DPIStandard web and Windows screen resolution
150 DPIMedium-quality print output
192 DPIRetina-class screen displays (2× standard)
220 DPIHigh-density smartphone and tablet screens
300 DPIProfessional print and offset printing standard

Using the wrong DPI produces an inaccurate physical measurement. A 1920-pixel width at 96 DPI is 50.80 cm. The same 1920 pixels at 300 DPI is only 16.26 cm. For MDN’s explanation of how CSS pixels relate to physical pixels see the MDN Web Docs glossary.

PX to CM reference table

Where to use the PX to CM Converter

Use the converter when a digital measurement in pixels needs to match a physical size in centimeters.

Web and UI design

Use px to cm calculations when your design or layout needs to match exact physical dimensions in a printed or physical output.

Print preparation

Convert layout widths or image dimensions from pixels to centimeters before handing off to a printer. Use the image resizer to set the exact pixel dimensions first, then convert here for the physical print specification.

Image and banner sizing

Calculate the physical size of banners and promotional graphics when you know the pixel dimensions and the display DPI.

Product and packaging mockups

Check that digital mockups and product renders match real world dimensions in centimeters before production.

Reports and project notes

Include accurate physical measurements in client reports and design briefs.

Manual calculation vs using this converter

Calculating px to cm manually requires remembering the formula and using the correct DPI each time. A wrong DPI produces a wrong result and the error may not be obvious until a file reaches the printer.

The converter applies the formula automatically from your inputs and returns a 4-decimal result. Copy or download for project notes and client handoffs.

Use PX to CM values with Spexo Addons for Elementor

Converting pixels to centimeters feeds directly into image planning and layout decisions when you build with Spexo Addons for Elementor.

Image and banner planning

Use converted centimeter values when preparing hero banners and background images that need to match physical print or display dimensions.

WooCommerce product visuals

Convert product image pixel dimensions to centimeters for accurate product listing descriptions and packaging specifications. Before uploading product images, convert them to WebP using the image to WebP converter to reduce file weight without losing quality.

Design handoff

Include centimeter measurements in design briefs shared with developers, print vendors or content teams. If the project involves a new WordPress page, browse the Elementor template kits to find a ready made layout that fits the design spec.

FAQs about PX to CM Converter

Yes. The tool is free to use in your browser. You can convert pixels to centimeters without signup.
The formula is centimeters = (pixels / DPI) × 2.54. The value 2.54 is used because 1 inch = 2.54 cm.
The default DPI is 96, which is commonly used for web and screen-based calculations.
Yes. You can enter any DPI value in the DPI (Screen Density) field. Use 96 for common screen work or 300 for many print workflows.
DPI controls how many pixels fit inside one inch. At higher DPI, the same pixel value takes less physical space, so the centimeter result becomes smaller.
The tool shows the centimeter result with 4 decimal places for better accuracy.
The downloaded file includes the pixel input, centimeter result, and DPI value. The file is saved as spexo-px-to-cm-converter.txt.
