OpenAI API Settings in Spexo AI: Configuration Reference
The OpenAI API Settings are the base setup required to use all AI features in
Spexo Addons.
Once this setup is completed, you can use AI directly inside WordPress and Elementor to:
- Generate and rewrite content faster
- Create AI images inside Elementor
- Translate pages into multiple languages
- Automatically generate image alt text for SEO
This guide explains the setup and shows how each option helps you and when to use it.
Where to Configure OpenAI API Settings #
To start using AI features, open the configuration page:
- Go to your WordPress Dashboard
- Navigate to Spexo Addons → Settings → AI Settings → Configuration
Here you will see:
- OpenAI API Key
- Text Model selection (Pro)
- Image Model selection (Pro)
The Text Model and Image Model settings are available only in Spexo Addons PRO. Please install and activate the PRO plugin to access these features.
1. Add Your OpenAI API Key #
Your API key connects your website with OpenAI.
Without this key, AI features will not work.
Why this matters for you:
Every time you generate text, images, or translations, this key allows Spexo to talk to OpenAI.
- Open OpenAI API Keys
- Click Create new secret key
- Copy the key
- Paste it into OpenAI API Key field
- Click Save Settings
⚠️ Security Note:
Your API key is hidden after saving and cannot be viewed again.
Please store it safely.
2. Choose the OpenAI Text Model #
The text model controls how AI writes content for you.
This model is used when you:
- Write or rewrite content
- Translate pages using AI
- Generate alt text for images
OpenAI Text Model selection is available only in Spexo Addons PRO.
Upgrade to PRO to select and switch between different OpenAI text models.
Free Version:
- GPT-4o-mini (fixed)
Pro Version:
- GPT-4o
- GPT-4o-mini
- GPT-4 Turbo
- GPT-3.5 Turbo
- Other models available to your API key
Use GPT-4o-mini for daily work to save cost.
Use GPT-4o when quality is more important.
3. Choose the OpenAI Image Model #
This setting controls AI image generation inside Elementor.

|---|---|
| DALL·E 3 | High-quality and detailed images |
| DALL·E 2 | Simple images with lower cost |
OpenAI Image Model selection is available only in Spexo Addons PRO.
Upgrade to PRO to choose between different image models for AI image generation.
Free Version:
- ✔ DALL·E 3 (default)
- ✖ No model switching
Pro Version:
- ✔ Choose between DALL·E 3 and DALL·E 2

4. Refresh the Model List #
If models do not appear, click List Refresh.
- Reloads available text models
- Reloads available image models
If refresh does not work:
- Check your API key
- Ensure OpenAI account has balance
- Try again after a few minutes
