Why Does the Spexo Prebuilt Import Keep Timing Out?
When you import a prebuilt website, data is transferred to your server. If you encounter an error message similar to the one below, it indicates that the server failed to respond to the connection request within the allowed time:
WP_Error – cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 30001 milliseconds with 0 bytes received.
The connection request process follows this sequence:

This means that the entire connection process, as shown in the image above, must be completed within the set time limit (30 seconds in this case). If the process takes longer than the allowed time, the connection request will time out, causing the import to fail.
Fixing the Import Timeout Error #
Follow these steps and try importing the prebuilt website again after each step:
- Resume the import process until it completes. If the import was interrupted, click the “Resume Import Process” button instead of starting over. Spexo Addons allows restarting from where it left off, and in most cases, clicking “Resume Import Process” 3-4 times will successfully complete the import.
- Retry the import from the beginning. If resuming doesn’t work after multiple attempts, restart the import process from scratch.
- Switch your browser. If the issue persists, try using a different browser, as an extension or browser setting could be blocking the request.
- Disable your VPN. If you’re using a VPN, turn it off and attempt the import again.
- Temporarily disable security plugins. If you have security plugins like Wordfence or iThemes Security, deactivate them and retry the import.
- Deactivate all plugins except Spexo Addons. Another plugin may be causing a conflict, so disable all plugins except Spexo Addons and try again.
